چکیده

Semantic interoperability among command and control information systems is critical to information sharing and proper automated processing. To improve multinational combined and joint mission capabilities, the Multilateral Interoperability Programme (MIP) has defined the Joint Command, Control, and Consultation Information Exchange Data Model (JC3IEDM), which is gaining wide acceptance beyond the MIP community. In this paper, we present a reference XML schema definition (XSD) that has become an integral part of the JC3IEDM 3.0 specification. It provides an object-oriented view on the data model and aims at simplifying and accelerating the adoption of the MIP data model in service-oriented architectures and web application development. We provide the use cases and design principles that have lead to this XSD. Moreover , we show how this type of XML schema can be obtained in an automated way from any relational schema in third normal form by applying only structural and syntactic transformative rules. The application of the XSD is demonstrated by instance XML documents that describe an operational scenario.

Two-Way Mapping between Object-Oriented Databases and XML

This paper presents a novel approach for mapping an existing object-oriented database into XML and vice versa. The major motivation to carry out this study is the fact that it is necessary to facilitate platform independent exchange of the content of object oriented databases and the need to store XML in a structured database. There are more common features between the object-oriented model and...
